Junior Year

After winter break, we came back and crammed Huaren until our eyes blew out. There were tons of little details that we hadn't thought of and so much stuff to do. Luckily, we had some great acts and some great coordinators so things were working out. I recall one night when me and Brian ventured out into the freezing cold to post up fliers that basically got torn down by the morning.

It was all worth it though because the Huaren show turned out better than any of us expected. People loved the show and we were all glowing afterwards. Spring break was right after the show but amidst the midterms that week we all walked on clouds and had found a common bond through struggle and success.

It was during Huaren that i got my first experience dancing (with Andri's hip hop act) and later we decided to pull a group together to dance in GenAPA in March. That act turned out to be a huge success and we danced with the other Huaren hip hop act at ITASA in April.

With one month of school left, we suddenly had all these amazingly talented people we knew through Huaren. We partied like crazy (mostly at Brian and Hong's place) and generally had a great time meeting everyone. We had picnics at the Arb and had crazy times anywhere else we gathered.

Junior year ended in a flurry of fun and a commitment to do Huaren again next year.

All in all, junior year seemed like a preview of what senior year would be like. I got my first taste of dancing as well as meeting a group of incredibly fun and talented people (too many to name). The Huaren show experience made me realize how happy i was to be a part of something which i had helped create. I couldn't wait until next year to continue what we had started as well as to build friendships with all these new people. For the first time ever, i couldn't wait to go back to school.

That summer was the first time I hung out with any Michigan people while not at Michigan. I visited Greg, Caroline (who came out to San Diego later) and Angie in New York for a few days during May and then came back to San Diego to entertain Helen and Sher Wing (two of those amazing, talented people i was talking about) during their visit out. Heather and Leslie dropped by one week apart near the end of the summer after they got done with Love Boat. Lynn was out in LA working for the summer and Steve and Christina were from LA so me and Hong spent alot of time going up and down the coast. Even Brian and Jay found time to visit briefly. The whole summer was dominated by clubbing and raving and having a great time with Michigan west.
