funKtion had started to take off, culminating in a great performance at Michigan Theatre for Encompass in January. That month was also AAA/CSA Lunar Ball, which i went to with Katy and it was the first and only formal i attended in college. Everyone went so it was a really fun time and it was nice to see everyone all dressed up.
Huaren took up most of my free time, with the practices and all the planning involved. The show was held to great success again and a week after that, 20 of us went off to Miami for spring break.
That week in Miami was one of the most glorious vacations anyone could have ever taken. A beautiful house with a giant backyard, a basketball court across the street, the beach within walking distance and Miami's famed South Beach right next to that. Everyone spent a week there getting tanned and beautiful before we came back to school to prepare for GenAPA.
The dance conglomerate known as GrooveCulture performed at GenAPA (held at Hill Auditorium, where my freshman orientation was) in March and then we took a road trip to Northwestern's ITASA to perform there too. The trip itself was dope because it marked another departure from the norm, escaping the UMich campus with friends for a weekend.
After that, sadly, the four year journey was coming to an end. With one month left of school, there was nothing left to do but see people and get ready to leave. I decided to stay for an extra few weeks after graduation (i was in it despite the non-graduation) just to hang out and let the residue of Michigan soak in. Greg and Louis did the same but eventually we had to go. And so, with waterguns blazing, our college career ended.
Senior year seems so short now in retrospect but I know that it was like a culmination of everything i wanted out of Michigan. I could of stayed longer but i felt like it was time to leave and if i stayed it would have just been hanging on. I'll always regret not staying for a little longer but really, when do you not regret leaving college after four great years? As Greg says, college is the best years of your life. I hope that's not the case but who knows? Just take alot of pictures and hang on to them i say.
